Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: The Return (RP thread)

After a short nod off, Jake awoke to find the enemy they were facing attempting to attack the mudkip. Even though he hadn't exactly checked to see if the minncinno he was helping had awoken, he planned on using sucker punch from afar, surely this would knock it out after all that punishment. He slowly got up, breathing heavily, his shoulders slowly rising and falling.

"Grr... Now I'm angry! Take this ya' son of a gun!"

He struck the exegguttor as hard as he possibly could, hoping that would take it out. It fell over slowly and the enraged Absol calmed down. He stepped closer to the mudkip.

"Hey! You there in the water... You alright?"

A warm, golden glow enveloped Mac and the other three as the Wonder badges they all carried began to resonate with power and pulsate with ethereal light. They were each enveloped in the soft illumination, it felt like a warm hug almost. Then the group and their rescued friend shot off towards the ceiling of the cave, passing straight through it harmlessly and leaving faint streaks of golden sparks behind them. They soared upward through the cavern's interior, passing through floor after floor before finally rising above the entire dungeon, the sea and rocky coast line stretching out before them all as they floated. Seacrest city sat nestled not far from the sea in the distance. And that was were the power of the badges took them all, guiding them over to the settlement like a gentle wind. It was only a few moments more before they all touched down smoothly on the outskirts of town, the glow fading around them all. up ahead, the streets were bustling with all the activities common to the port city.

"Huh... Where am I?" a voice asked from behind the trio. if they all turned, they would see that Torrent had come to.

"The city...?" he continued. "But... what happened? who are you guys?"

After flying back to the city, the four were placed upon the ground.
"What happened? Who are you guys?"

Mac turned around, making eye contact with a Piplup. "Oi, 'e's awake," Mac announced. He crawled over, claws sheathed. "Pleased to meet you. I'm MacMillan from Seacrest's Castle. First day on the job." He shook (hands? paws? flippers?) with the still-dazed Piplup, then moved aside for the others to introduce themselves.

“You’re from Castle Mystique as well? I guess we’ll team up since I received the same task. I’m a new member so you probably haven’t seen me around,” Scorpio said completely forgetting to introduce him. Honestly he didn’t care all that much they were from the same Castle but this dungeon proved to be quite a challenge. He figured it might be best to keep the Espurr close since so far he ran into nothing but rock and steel types.

“What supplies do you have with you? I only have an apple…” He asked in a nice way, much nicer than he had been until now, but this was the perfect opportunity to see if Pulse managed to collect some treasure.

Jory awoke to the sound of the Exeggutor crashing to the ground near him. He looked up, his head on a swivel as he searched out more danger. Satisfied that there was none, he stood up and used his tail to brush himself off, then approached the Absol that had apparently helped him and the Mudkip. "Hey, thanks for the assist! There's no way I would have been able to take that big bad tree all on my own. I'm Jory, by the way."

Showing consent to teaming up, she came back to the Skorupi- who, she noticed, hadn't really cared to introduce himself. Maybe he didn't have a name?- with her eyes fixated on him as usual. "The last room had a Pecha Berry and a Power Band. I threw you the third of my Oran berries, leaving only two now. I've also two apples as well as an Escape Orb, should we decide to return to town."

It also seemed that the dim, dingy bluish stone room had gotten brighter. Pulse looked to the source of the light and saw a Chimchar peeking from the stairs. Deciding quickly to step in, before the aggressive fellow could fling poison at the battered looking Fire-type, she spoke. "I don't suppose you aren't from here? You don't typically see Chimchar in these parts." Frankly, had the Pokemon not looked all beaten up, she would have just ignored her (if she didn't attack). But it seemed like she'd been through a rough time, telltale signs of scuffles with the locals in this cave.

"Hey, thanks for the assist! There's no way I would have been able to take that big bad tree all on my own. I'm Jory, by the way."

He took a few steps closer to his new friend, and spoke somewhat nervously, but still courageous.

"No problem friend. The name's Jake!" He reached out his hand for a shake of partnership, he was pretty sure they both knew the three of them would have to work together to get out alright.

"If we're gonna get out of this mess, we're gonna need to know we can trust each other."

Otto turned towards Torrent.

"Well, I'm glad that you're awake. My name's Otto, and I was just traveling with these two, who are both from Seacrest. judging by your Wonder Badge, I'd say that you're also from Seacrest. Who are you?"

"Wha--? How did our badges just--? Nevermind..." She doubted that MacMillan or Otto would know why that happened. After fluffing out her cloud-feathers, Artemis turned towards the just-revived Piplup.

"Glad you're awake. I am Artemis, one of the new recruits from Seacrest. Are you alright?"

Sparks chuckled a bit, before rubbing the back of his neck, "Oh, sorry. It's just we've all just met suddenly without introductions, save for Vincent." He remarked, glancing down at Roy, "You sure do think highly of yourself." He claimed in response to Roy's earlier statement.

Torrent

"Um...alright..." Torrent said. So... they were from seacrest, Eh? Well, that would work out just great for him... he he he, more folks to get to do his work for him. Of course, being subtle was a vital part of getting them to comply. He'd have to play his cards right, not that that had ever been an issue for him before. As simple as smile and wave...

"My name's Torrent," he said. His face became vexed looking. "So... would any of you mind explaining what happened? particularly why I'm standing here in the middle of town instead of down in Brine Cave?" he looked around, noticing just now that neither Pixi nor Bubble were anywhere nearby. "And where did my team members go?"

"Is it just me, or did he have a grin on his face for a second...?" Artemis thought suspiciously; she doesn't really trust strangers, even if they are from her castle. However, she can't pass judgment without getting the facts, so she will deal her nagging thought for now. Perhaps she was overthinking things.

"In the order you asked: MacMillan, Otto and I found you unconscious in Brine Cave. So we gave you a Reviver Seed. Second, our badges teleported us back into town without our permission. I'm hoping you would have an explanation as to why that occurred because my mission wasn't to rescue you... No offense. And third, I have no idea. I don't think I saw them while I was getting through that cave."

"What about you, MacMillan and Otto?" she asked her companions.

Jory smiled and extended a paw to the Absol, shaking in the middle. "Nice to meet you, Jake. So I have this map that says we're in a place called 'Treeshroud Forest,' but I have no idea where we are. Any idea how to get out of here?"

Otto responded to Artemis.

"I didn't see any Pokemon other than Omanyte, Seel, that Dragonair, You, Mac, and Torrent while I was in Brine Cave. However, I did notice the tracks of an Axew as I was exploring."

He shuddered as he said 'Dragonair' because of his memory of getting beaten up by the Dragonair a little earlier. Torrent could've easily noticed him shudder.

"Is that a short joke?"

Sparks shook his head in disagreement with the little Timburr, "No, i wasn't making fun of your height. You just have the guts to go toe to toe with a Goliath like him." He claimed, pointing a paw towards Draidon.

Nothing!? Atton thought to himself, silently grinding his teeth. You call that f*cking nothing!? You little sh*t, I would've massacred you if those other two hadn't intervened! But he did not voice any of these thoughts, simply ground his teeth and stared off towards the town.

Calm down... come on, gotta keep it together... He placated himself mentally. He had to keep up the act that he was completely over this, and blowing up with fury right now would be quite detrimental to that facade. And just as he knew this fact, he also knew a way to deepen the ruse...

"Only a fool would challenge Lord Arceus," he said, turning to Roy. his eyes held an unusual calm...which was entirely forced. "Anyone stupid enough to try would be blown away in a nano-second by his Judgement Attack."

Torrent

Torrent scratched the back of his head with his flipper. How strange... it seems that somehow these people found him, but why hadn't they found his team members too? If they had all been wiped out, then wouldn't they all have been in the same area since they had been traveling together? Or maybe...

"MmHmmm...." Torrent murmured, now scratching his chin methodically. "Hey, listen guys... would you mind helping me out and going back to brine cave with me? I think those two went on deeper without me..." he wanted to find his team members, but he didn't want to have to do any of the work in the dungeon... so, this was the perfect solution, ask these goons here if they wanted to help a fellow castle member out. and even if they refused at first, he'd convince them too. He could be a very... persuasive little Piplup.

Roy was perturbed by Draidons calm. Despite his bluster, he knew that was an intense battle. However, Roy didn't think to hard on it. It's not like he could.

"How do you know bud? Have You ever experienced it? No didn't think so. Besides, how longs a nano second?"

This Chimchar was a quiet one. "Come, you look tired." Pulse gestured for her to descend, with an Oran Berry in her other paw. It felt strange being helpful to other Pokemon-- or hanging out in a group-- but this was a difficult dungeon. She knew that any sort of aid would be welcome, especially to her so that they (she and the Skorupi, that is) could finally reach the bottom and complete the mission.

As Jake moved along for a bit, instincts told him to try to not stray away from the center area of the strange dungeon.

After a while of taking lefts and rights without a single word, they found another clearing! There was a.. Very oddly placed set of stairs, along with two enemies! A ralts, and a kadabra... As he looked around the luscious, beautiful room. He caught a scent...

"Apples, Jory..."

A small group of apples sat in the corner, but the enemies had seen them, there was no way they could get to the delicious apples, or sweet escape, without a couple of fights! Jake dashed forward and used sucker punch on the kadabra, and the two psychic pokemon closed in on him.

"Hey Jory! Let's show these two who's boss, huh?"

"No," Atton replied. "I'm not that reckless... but there's more than enough legends of idiots who are. Trying to take on god himself tends to get you killed. And a nano-second is like, a billionth of a second or so." He turned off and faced the castle, not helping but smiling a little, just a hint. barely enough for anyone to notice. Yes, while he was a Headstrong, Tempermental, and Reckless dragon, he was still by no means stupid. Most people automatically took his primary personal traits to imply he was lower on the intellect scale than the average pokemon, but they were always wrong when they did. Hell, if he had been stupid, he wouldn't have tried to go for those sitrus berries earlier instead of just flat out attacking Sparks and Roy with everything he had left. If he had been stupid, then he wouldn't have thought to put that little trick on Raichu in play in order to get some revivor seeds earlier.

But most people still just went on assuming him to be little more than an aggressive idiot...which was fine by him though, since it just just gave him countless opportunities to prove to folks just how wrong they are.

((I only ever said that he was foolhardy and reckless... not that he didn't know shit.))
