Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: The Return (RP thread)

If I can get to the top of this mountain, I might make my dream come true. Vincent had heard of a famous rescue castle up on Mt. Horn. Now, he always wanted to be a member of a rescue team, to help the helpless. While he was climbing, he heard some noises, quite nearby. Suddenly someone cried "ULTIMATE SUPER HULK SMASH OF AWESOMENESS," then a harsh slam. Around the corner, he saw a Timburr that just knocked out a Bonsly. He had seen enough Bonsly so far in Mt. Horn, so he didn't even doubt that the Bonsly attacked the Timburr. The Timburr started to walk away. There are a lot Rock types in this dungeon, and I've got the type disadvantage against them. Having a Fighting type as a comrade could be a big help here. But then I have to act right now.

He quickly ran over to the place the Timburr stood when he beat his opponent and called out to him. "Hey there."

As he was walking away, he heard a voice behind him. Jumpy because of his vulnerable state, Roy hopped up, half spinning in the air in shock, and falling straight on his tiny Timburr butt. "Owowowowow, who's there?" Looking up, Roy saw a Lillipup standing there. "Oh, uh, hi?"

Vincent chuckled a little at the Timburr falling to the ground, but quickly regained his composure. "I was just wondering why you are traversing this mountain. Just for fun, or are you perhaps also headed to Castle Tempest? If so, we could team up if you want. There are quite some Rock types around, which I am weak to, but you haven't got a problem with, and it's the other way around with the Flying types. So, what do you say? Oh, my name's Vincent, by the way."

The little pups words confused Roy. What's a castle? Tempest? And who say's he needed help?!

"Are you sayin' I can't climb this mountain on my own?!" Anger was seeping into his already loud voice

"You know what? Follow me! The Great Roy will show you how it's done!" With this, he flashed a grin at Vincent and walked off, but he stumbled, forgeting how weak he was after taking a rock throw and using his Superpower.

Vincent grinned. "Roy, was it? You'd better not push yourself too much. Here, catch," he said as he threw an Oran Berry at the Timburr. "I found it when I entered the dungeon." He sat down quiet for a bit. "You know, do you have any idea where you are right now? Because you seem to be quite...new to this."

Roy caught the berry, almost dropping it. After tasting a cautious nibble, he wolfed it down in an instant. It was delicious! He could feel his energy coming back. "Well thanks buddy! And no, I haven't the faintest clue where that Arceus sent me! Where are we?"

((Roys an idiot, of course he wouldn't know to hide the whole arceus shiz))

Draidon lowered his claws and scratched his head in confusion as he heard the Jolteon retort... the voice was exactly the same as the one he had heard.

"But...You?" he asked. "Why would you help me? I thought that all that electric types were capable of was being insufferable bullies and overall a**holes..."

Just then a Tailow swooped down onto a branch and asked what was going on.

"I... I don't really know...." he responded.

Sparks drew a quick breath as he watched Draidon lower his claws, "Not all Electric types are abhorrent a**holes, and I did come to save you after hearing that echoing Thunder, so it's only fair to see some form of gratitude, right?" He questioned as a calm grin crept onto his muzzle, "Now, let's get the formalities out of the way, shall we?" He added.

"Well thanks buddy! And no, I haven't the faintest clue where that Arceus sent me! Where are we?" Arceus? He must be talking nonsense. Poor fellow. "This," Vincent spoke slowly, hoping Roy would understand it better like that, "is Mt. Horn. I came to this place, because I want to be a member of a rescue team. A rescue team is a team that saves other Pokemon that are in trouble, mostly in 'mystery dungeons' like these. Anyway, on top of Mt. Horn is a famous castle that specialises in rescue teams, Castle Tempest. I'm hoping to apprentice there." Vincent paused. "Say, if you're lost, Castle Tempest would surely help you, since this is clearly a case of being in trouble. So, can I count on you to come with me?"

As Vincent spoke, Roy began to get a better sense of things. Not much, but better.

One thing in particular caught his attention.

"Wait, Wait, Wait, Wait, In a Team you get to rescue people? Count me in!"

This was a perfect chance to show everyone how heroic and amazing and awesome and fantastic and cool he was! That whole "Saving the world" thing could come later. Maybe once Roy had a mansion, and some more Oran berries.

"Um... Thanks?" Atton said. "Though... I'm kinda surprised... not all of you are like that?"

He shook his head a bit skeptically.

"Sorry..." he began. "But I'm having a hard time believing that... maybe you might be different, but for all the other electric types I've met in my life have been exactly like how I perceive them as: Bullies and As*holes..." He pointed to the jagged scar that ran across his belly.

"You see this right here?" he asked.

Attack, dodge, Attack, dodge back, Quick Attack, X-Scissor. The exercise bag dropped down, warranting Mac the success he wanted. His claws were dulled, so he sharpened them on each other, achieving a dark color, but razor-like parameters.

The Zangoose sheathed his claws, picking up the bag and placing it away. "That should do for today," he said. Zangoose ran back to his room on all fours, as he typically runs. His morning training was done, but the day was still alive. He recorded his progress on paper, fastened the x-strap of his Treasure Bag (stocked with only a Power Band and Escape Orb) - or as he called it, the loot bag-, nabbed some Oran Berries from the garden before replanting what was taken, and left Seacrest quickly. Eager to start his first day, MacMillan was ready to impress. He needn't go far to prove his dedication and usefulness. And so, Brine Cave was his destination. With the Power Band equipped on his left arm, he ran off quickly.

"One Apple and an Oran Berry... Well, it could have been worse." Artemis thought as she walked, or rather hopped, around on a floor of the Brine Cave. She decided that it would be best to conserve her energy for catching that bandit, otherwise, she would be flying. As she made her way around trying to find the next set of stairs, she spotted two sets of tracks that aren't native to this dungeon. After a quick look around her (and not finding any danger), the blue bird examined the two sets of tracks.

"An Axew and an Oshawott?" Artemis frowned a little. She couldn't recall that they are from Seacrest, so could they be the bandits? The blue bird began following the tracks that led straight to the fork that Otto, the Oshawott, encountered before. There, she found the Axew and the Oshawott footprints going their separate ways. "A sneak attack? Or are they just not related at all?"

Considering her type advantages, Artemis decided to follow the Oshawott's path. That way, even if they are both operating together, Artemis can take out the lesser of two demons first and focus all of her energy on Axew. With that, she found herself in a room with the sleeping Seel, sending a chill right down her spine. In her current situation, Artemis knew she didn't have enough power to take down a Seel with Ice Shard. This is a battle she cannot win, yet. The fluffy bird decided to take flight and, keeping close to the opposite side, flew straight into the next corridor.

Upon hearing a snore, the Swablu breathed a sigh of relief and landed. "That was close..."

"Oh my oh my, am I getting popular or what?"

"Seriously?" Artemis looked towards the source of the voice and found herself with an arrogant Omanyte. He was just there, taking up the whole space of the corridor, beaming at her with no intention of moving. Artemis realized that she needed to speak up or get wrecked.

"Umm... What did you mean by popular? Was someone here before you?" Artemis asked. Although she knew the answer to the question (since the tracks clearly led to that room), a small conversation couldn't hurt to start things off.

"Why, yes indeed, little bird. My keen sense of sight has found an Oshawott running towards the staircase just ahead. I just wanted to say hello, but it appears he doesn't take too kindly to me." The Omanyte shook his head in mock disappointment.

"It is a well lit cave, you know..." Artemis muttered under her breath.

"Hmm... What did you say?"

"Nothing, nothing at all~" Artemis chirped, put on a fake smile. "Say Omanyte, would be so kind to let me though to the room right behind you? I need to find someone and I think that Oshawott you mentioned might be the one I'm looking for."

All at once, the Omanyte's seemingly kind demeanor changed into that of seething disgust. "Oh, I see how it is. You two are a team! Yes, yes. By letting your partner go, you can devise an excuse for me to you let you into MY room and steal MY Reviver Seed! That's it! Isn't it?"

"Wait, what? No! You're wrong! I don't even know about that Oshawott or your Reviver Seed!" Artemis screeched in surprise. "I just want to complete my mission!"

"B**s**t! I found that Reviver Seed, so it's mine! If you want it, beat me!" The Omanyte's eyes glowed and, with a wave of his tentacles, the surrounding rocks moved straight towards Artemis.

"No, I-- Ugh, fine! Since you won't listen to reason, I have no choice!" Artemis shouted as her cloud wings turned into steel plates (Steel Wing), blocking some the AncientPower's damage. Then, she took flight and flew straight into the shellfish, knocking him back his room.

Since the Omanyte is down, Artemis flew straight for the staircase, only to be blasted by a stream of water (Brine) which sent her crashing into the wall. She turned around and found the Omanyte glaring at her, but painting slightly from the damage he took.

"Not bad at all," Artemis said as let out a Growl, causing the Water/Rock type to flinch in surprise. "Let's see how you like this!"

The Swablu flew towards her opponent and let out a terrifying screech as a black, ghost face with red eyes appears before the opponent (Astonish), causing the Omanyte to recoil with fear. As the Omanyte struggles to recover, Artemis sent him flying towards the wall with another Steel Wing, finally knocking him out.

The small bird, exhausted from the fight, hopped, slowly, over to pick up the Reviver Seed the Omanyte had mentioned. "H-Hey, I guess beat you, r-right? So, thanks..." she said towards the knocked out Pokemon. With that, Artemis made her way to the staircase in her pursuit of the Oshawott.

He glanced at the scar, before wincing slightly at the thought of the pain Draidon must've suffered, "Looks like it was a difficult scuffle for sure." Sparks murmured, glancing back at Mt. Horn and Castle Tempest, "We should get these introductions wrapped up, since we should've been getting to Mt. Horn by now." He claimed as he began to trek towards the dungeon, hoping these two could handle themselves with, or without his assistance.

"Well, it's about time you showed up, Ace. Got tired of practicing?" He remarked with a slight grin on his face, before shifting his gaze back to Draidon, "Ace, you can keep secrets, right?"

"I just saw lightning get dropped over here. It's not good to fly in thunderstorms, heh. Tends to leave one a bit crisper than they'd like." He frowned -or made the closest approximation a bird could make with a beak- at the second question. "Why?"

Otto heard a crash come from the direction of the Staircase to the First Floor.

did someone just...?

Otto then noticed a part of a cloud-like wingtip come down the Stairway. Otto panicked again, and then ran further along the Corridor, eventually reaching another Room. However, he simply rushed through this one in his hurry. He then headed into another Room, and didn't notice the Dragonair that waited for him, ready to hit him.

WHAM!

Otto was knocked across the Room and into a wall by the Dragonair's Dragon Tail, leaving a small indentation in his shape in the wall where he collided with the wall. Otto then slid from the wall onto the floor, and then got up.

"Ow! What the heck! Why'd you do that?!"

The Dragonair chuckled.

"Well, you did enter my room, so you were trespassing. i was in all rights to knock you about a bit."

Otto got pretty mad at this, and spoke up.

"Well, you could've warned me first!"

and with that, Otto ran at the Dragonair (Tackle). It responded by rushing at him after becoming surrounded with blue light (Dragon Rush).

That's Dragon Rush! I need to act fast...!

Otto then stopped and braced himself, and his Body Fur that wasn't indigo turned a light Pink as he altered his Typing to Fairy without even realizing it. Both Otto and the Dragonair were startled as its Dragon Rush simply phased right through him.

"What?!"

"Huh?!"

"Did you just...?"

Otto took advantage of the Dragonair's confusion and ran out of the Room, his fur returning to the normal Color as he left the Room. The Dragonair then gave chase.

"Get back here!"

Otto just kept on running, eventually encountering a dead end in the Corridor. as he ran and it chased him, they both left behind tracks that could easily be followed.

Oh no... i'm trapped!

Otto then backed up closer to the wall, unable to get around the Dragonair as it approached him. Then, it faked him out by pretending to use Dragon Rush again, but intentionally switching to Wrap before it hit him. Otto braced for impact when he saw it use Dragon Rush, unwittingly changing to a Fairy Type again, but he was caught off-guard when it used Wrap on him, and he flinched. He was stuck in the Coils, despite every attempt to get out of its' grasp, and he eventually turned back into a Water Type. Then, the Dragonair threw him against the wall, knocking him nearly unconscious and making him flinch again. Then, the Dragonair slithered up to him and used Wrap on him again. Otto was stuck in the Dragonair's Coils and unable to get out of the its grip. It then started constricting him, bringing him closer and closer to unconsciousness with each squeeze, and it eventually knocked him unconscious. Then, the Dragonair took him to another empty Room, dropped him in the Room, and slithered back to its Room.

"Erm, long story with that one, but in short he got messed up by a Raichu's Thunder." He answered bluntly, "Now let's get a move on, the day isn't going to let itself slow down for our misused time." He chimed, heading towards Mt. Horn, wondering what he could do to show Draidon that he was different than other Electric types.

Scorpio eyed the Espurr carefully. Normally he would wait for an opportunity to strike, but this one was a psychic type. He could hit her hard, but she also had an advantage over him and he didn’t have many items with him to recover. He decided to wait for an answer before acting.

"My name is Pulse. Are you from this dungeon, or perhaps are you lost?"

“Neither. I’m… just passing by.” The Espurr didn’t look hostile and Scorpio had the feeling she didn’t live in the cave either. That meant she was after the same treasure as him and he wasn’t planning to let her know. He passed by Pulse while walking sideways, still eyeing her.

(Scorpio is hostile so he won't ask to explore together. It's up to you to decide that, Zeph)

Well then. After taking several turns and passing through some rooms, Alistair came to the conclusion that he had taken a wrong turn back from where he started. He was now positive that this path lead to a dead end as it opened up into a room with a Pokemon sleeping in the back left corner, a Kingler, if he was not mistaken. Whoever it is, they should be able to help... He figured, approaching.

"Excuse m..." he started, but he soon fell silent as the water type opened it's eyes. Alistair had never recalled looking into eyes that exuded such a intimidating glare- and he wished that he never had.

"You're in my room." the Kingler said flatly, words dripping with a cold venom. She certainly was not in a good mood, was she?

"I-" He took a few steps back as he was interrupted. He had a feeling that he should get going- this was not going to end well....

"You also woke me up!" She was shouting now. Letting out a battle cry as her claws glowed with a silver light (Metal claw) she lunged forward. Alistair scrambled back furiously, narrowly avoiding being hit, though he immediately recognized that he was in no position to fight- at all- for obvious reasons. He certainly didn't waste time implementing plan 'B', as he turned tail -literally now- and ran.

"Sorry!" He called out, making a beeline towards the exit of the room and was soon following his old tracks to where he started.

"Oh no you don't!" screamed his pursuer, pausing to send a spray of bubbles (bubblebeam) after him and resuming immediately after. The bubbles hit surprisingly hard, and Alistair was sent flying forward, though he had no time to take a minute to gather his wits and he kept running. He didn't look back to see if he was still being chased or not but he kept running, passing the room he started in and heading through the other path. Of all the places to place me... Thanks Arceus. Thanks.

Soon he came across a room with stairs in the back. It seemed there was a recent fight there, seeing at how there were many scuff marks in the ground and a Pokemon knocked out against the wall. Alistair contemplated trying to help him but he didn't want to risk getting hit again by those bubbles- he couldn't take another shot and it was a miracle he was still standing. It was a relatively straight forward cave and it wouldn't take long for him to be found if he was still being chased. Assuming the stairs took him somewhere else, he took them.

Draidon simply grumbled silently as he followed behind the Tailow and the...Jolteon. He was still a bit on the fence about whether or not he could really trust the latter pokemon... but maybe he was different from others of his type... he had helped Draidon, after all...

But the dragon didn't intend to count on that speculation. He honestly didn't know either one of these two, and so he wasn't going to go assuming they'd have his back if there was trouble when they got to Mt.Horn, he'd probably have to watch out for himself... but it's not like he wasn't used to having to do just that already. Hopefully these two just wouldn't get in the way too much... He cast one last glance back in the direction of the cave.

"I'll be back..." he thought to himself as he walked. "And I'm going to settle things with you, Raichu..."

"In a Team you get to rescue people? Count me in!" Vincent didn't expect Roy to actually want to join a rescue team too. He just didn't seem the type. "Eh, that's...alright I guess. So, what we have to do now, is find those stairs to get higher up on this here mountain." Vincent ran in front of the Timburr and smiled. "Hey, are you still coming or what?"

"Hey, are you still coming or what?"

"Hell yeah! I think I saw a set of stairs a little while back" Before Vincent could react, Roy charged forward, barreling through a small crvice towards where he thought the stairs would be. Before he could get too far, Roy fel a brush of wind. In the small space, Roys instincts screamed this was unnatural and so he activated his Endure. He was proved correct when he felt a Gust of wind launch him back.

An enraged Beautifly appeared, flapping about like a mad mon.

"D'ya think I could get a bit of help...?" Roy gasped, seriously hurt by the gust.

Mac made it through several floors of the dungeon by biding his time and being resourceful with the items he found. He managed to take down about seven weaker enemies, including Seel, Omanyte, and Tentacool.

On the next floor, he was placed moderately far from a Tentacool. Mac knew the drill- take him down fast. He was unable to take hits, so he had to deal them. That's just what he did: from far away, he performed a very quick attack, dealing damage before retreating back. However, Tentacool followed him, infuriated.
"You dare fight us? And with no advantage? You sicken me!"
Mac could deal one more hit and take it out. To prepare for that hit, he dodged side to side as he leered at him. However, his evasive action proved unfruitful, as the Tentacool managed to shoot a stinger into his torso, poisoning him. Mac felt great pain, his claws sticking out further as he felt his hatred for Seviper fueling him. This was his opportunity: this chance allotted Mac to slash at the Tentacool (Night Slash). He knew he made a great hit: the poison fueling his attack, the Choice Band strengthening him, his opponent weakened by the Leer and Quick Attack, and the immense critical damage from the Night Slash. Tentacool fainted.

The damage left Mac weakened. He was at a very strong level currently, which was the best time to keep moving forward. He did, wincing from the poison.
Tracks left in the water prompted Mac to run after them. They were mangled together, as if several Pokemon had walked that route. At a split in the path, Mac stopped. To his right, a room with a crushed wall and marks of battle, as well as the stairs. To his left, a room with several goods, including Oran Berries, Poke Dollars, and more. But that could wait.
Mac went right, towards the stairs.

As soon as Artemis reached the next floor, she took the chance to rest up in a corner. However, the loud thuds and cries raised her curiosity. So, the Swablu hopped quietly over to the corridor only to discover a Dragonair dragging an unconscious, blue Pokemon towards a room before the Dragonair retreated back into her territory. As soon as she was sure that the dragon was out of sight, Artemis made a quick hop-like dash towards that room.

She let out an audible gasp: Right in the center of the room was the Oshawott that Artemis has been trying to track down! However, he appeared to be unconscious, which was strange if Oshawott was a thief. If the Oshawott was indeed the bandit, Artemis doubt that he would be so unprepared for his escape. It was way to early for a bandit to be defeated so easily. The Swablu would probably understand if they were further in the dungeon, but it is only the 2nd floor. "Which means that this Oshawott is not a thief, but just a lost Pokemon?"

Taking a chance with that conclusion, Artemis hopped over to the Oshawott's side and nudged him with her wing. No response; only a Reviver Seed could save him now. She would like to keep that Reviver Seed for herself, seeing how valuable it could be for this mission ahead, but Artemis didn't feel to comfortable with the thought of having a dead Pokemon on her conscious. So, she took out the Reviver Seed and put it in the Oshawott's mouth. Then she fluffed out her wings and settled herself in to rest, waiting for her target to wake up. "Hopefully I won't regret this decision..."
