Ninpen
Genescarf Genesect (M/F) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Download EVs: 4 HP, 252 SpA, 252 Spe Modest/Timid/Rash/Naive Nature - Flamethrower - Ice Beam - Bug Buzz - Thunderbolt/U-Turn Everyone's seen this set. EVERYONE. Brilliant type coverage makes it a great revenge killer. --- N8 editing in a few possible changes. Timid can be run over Modest if you want to outspeed stuff at +1, and Thunderbolt can be replaced with U-Turn if scouting is more important than killing Water types, most notably the ever-common Gyarados. If you do run U-Turn, run Rash/Naive over Modest/Timid so your Attack isn't nerfed, and possibly throw a few EVs into your attack to give U-Turn that extra bite when it needs it. A Pink Cheetah
Techno Charger Genesect (N) @ Water Cassette Trait: Download EVs: 252 Special Attack/ 4 Special Defense/ 252 Speed Timid Nature - Bug Buzz - Flame Charge - Thunderbolt - Techno Blast This set is the very bane of Fire Type gyms and teams. With the right Download boost, this Genesect will ohko almost every fire type with Techno Blast. Tbolt for additional bitchin' coverage when combined with Flame Charge and Bug Buzz, with a Timid nature to outspeed many fire types that would normally be a threat to it with Flame Charge adding on to that. Wise Sweeper Genesect (N) @ Wise Glasses Trait: Download EVs: 252 Special Attack/ 4 Special Defense/ 252 Special Attack Modest Nature - Bug Buzz - Flame Charge - Ice Beam - Thunderbolt With Wise Glasses, this Genesect still gets a boost to its damage without loosing precious life with each attack. Most for the additional damage boost and Flame Charge to make up for the relative lack of speed. Bug Buzz for a powerful STAB move with good coverage, and with a Download boost, it hits like a truck. Bolt Beam for more coverage with nothing completely resisting this set. A powerhouse with few downsides.
Phazer
Rdy2Rage? Pain (Genesect) @ Aqua Cassette Trait: Download EVs: 128 Atk / 128 SAtk / 252 Spd Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef) - Techno Blast - Thunderbolt - Flamethrower - Ice Beam Now you would think rage quit would mean toxic>protect>wish>protect, but this is highly different. Genesect has the 3 elemental strikers: Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, and Ice Beam. Perfect coverage moves, Genesect has a move called Techno Blast. Techno Blast is a move only available to Genesect, 4 cassettes determine the type of Techno Blast. Aqua, Freeze, Lightning, and Blaze, I'm choosing Aqua because Genesect doesn't have any water type moves. And because Techno Blast has an 85 base power so using the other cassettes wouldn't be as good as the 95 base powered strikers. Plus this also gives coverage against fire types that would normally waste Genesect because of its steel and bug typing. Nonetheless Genesects move pool is better then a lot of other pokemon move pools.
TripleRhu
The invisible Genesect Genesect @ Life Orb Trait: Download EVs: 4 Hp/ 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Rock Polish - Bug Buzz - Flamethrower - Thunderbolt Give your Genesect a Rock Polish boost, it will literally outspeed almost all scarfers in the game, and those who can outspeed it will not be bulky enough to survive Genesect's tank-like Special Attack. A Pink Cheetah
With Rock Polish, run a Modest nature instead? You might be losing speed, but that's only for turn one. Even without the speed boost, after a Polish, it hits a massive 594 speed. It outspeeds Scarf Latios, in other words.

Administrators Amethyst Posted January 4, 2012 Author Administrators Share Posted January 4, 2012 I'd argue that Flamethrower is better. Steel types are more likely to wall than ground or dragon- both of which it can already hit neutrally.
Shanco
Unce Unce Unce BOOM! Genesect-D @ Douse Drive Trait: Download EVs: 100 Atk / 156 SAtk / 252 Spd Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def) - U-turn / X-Scissor - Techno Blast - Thunder / Thunderbolt - Rock Polish / Flame Charge If you're going to use Techno Blast, use this set. It's very viable in rain, in which Genesect is best. U-turn makes Genesect a scout, and is a necessity on almost every one of this bug's sets, although for pure offense X-Scissor might be more desirable. Techno Blast, with a Douse Drive, gets double the power in rain and can become immensely powerful if Genesect gets blessed with a Sp. Atk boost from Download. Thunder is a great move in rain, but Thunderbolt arguably is better in other weather, especially sun. Rock Polish increases Genesect's Speed, but in other weathers Flame Charge might be a more desirable option as it increases Speed and deals damage at the same time.
