do i gotta point out that these changes are preliminary. apparently i do so here's a thing i put in rejupdates channel on the reborn evo discord after some discussion that occurred in rejuv gen the day this post came out I get that people are upset that it's looking like we're toning down the difficulty, because................. yes that's kind of what we're doing. HOWEVER, easier =/= bad. It's because for the overall QOL of the game it'll be infinitely better if the difficulty curve isn't as fucked up as it is right now. For people who want the game to remain challenging, hopefully the passwords we'll likely be adding in will help with micromanaging difficulty better and make it so that people can still enjoy getting pulped by every fight if they want that. I want to make something VERY clear though before people get up in arms in that we're ruining the experience for some. You know who gets the most shit thrown at them if the game doesn't feel fun to play through because people complain about the difficulty being unfair at many points? It's Jan. (which y'all shouldn't be doing btw because that's fucked up. stop harassing devs over things that REALLY do not matter that much but which you don't agree with. thanks) He also has told us in the dev server that he doesn't even like testing his own game anymore because the battles feel like a hassle to get through. And as he mentioned in the post where he announced Intense is getting discontinued, if Jan stops having fun, Jan stops working on the game. The vanilla experience NEEDS WORK. And that's what we're trying to do. Besides, it's not like Normal mode is getting COMPLETELY reworked like Casual/Story mode is, the latter is what truly will be the easier experience if people just wanna go through the game for the story. Normal will still keep challenge to it! It just needs adjustments in a lot of places in order to not have people get completely walled as often in the vanilla experience as they do now. The survey results post will go into further detail, but the explanation for the boss bars being removed is because according to our current survey results, more often than not people struggle on the fights that use boss shields, especially from Chapter 8 onwards. We understand that the boss bars are great from a narrative perspective because of the visual impact it has, hell it's literally the main reason why we decided to put those in in the first place—but in the mechanic's current state it's not fun to go against for several reasons and adding those in essentially did not pan out as we hoped for. This is not only a sentiment shared by a lot of people who filled in the survey, it's also something most of us on the dev team agree on. If it's any consolation for those who REALLY do not want them to be gone—and this is literally a development that started yesterday, so we don't have anything concrete yet don't YELL at me—we're currently looking into possible alternatives for the ways shields function, as these are the main reason why the battles don't feel fun as of right now. If we find something that works as a better middle ground that makes the shields less of a pain in the ass to deal, hopefully we can use that instead. But if we cannot find a solution that doesn't feel jank to go up against, we'll stick with our current decision to remove them entirely from main story fights and find a different approach to make boss battles stand out altogether. Please, have a bit of faith in us. We're doing our best to make the game a good experience for as many people as possible. I know it's impossible to please EVERYONE, but please also try to understand that Pokémon is literal ass to balance in such a way that everyone is pleased, especially with such a diverse and huge playerbase. We're trying to keep options open.24 points

Now i will have to say i am saddened by this decision, as intense mode did hit a certain "right" amount of difficulty that worked for me. putting aside some hickups in difficulty scaling that could be fixed. But ultimately if jan does feel that it warps what he wants out of the game then it's his right and he absolutely should to do what he thinks is best for his own project. I will note about the argument of toxicity over the difficulty, and people can feel free to disagree with me on this, that intense mode is a bit of a scapegoat here. People that that want to be elitist, that want to make themselves look better by judging people how well they do at a videogame (if this sounds silly, that's because it is) will always find other ways to make themselves look "better" than others, other things to judge over so i do think in terms of elitism and gatekeeping, this more like treating a symptom and not the disease. so I personally don't agree with this part of the reasoning. And i say this as someone that has seen people judge people for playing "not intense" or using certain mons or what have you, this is not really a case of what they are judging for and almost always a case of who is doing the judging, these same people will just find other things to judge for.24 points

On danger of this post being a bit controversial i do have a few things to say: first the positives, of the shown field changes i am pretty much in favor, "balanced woods" did get its moniker for a reason and some toning down is definetly acceptable. Sky fields seed was frankly always a bit of a sore point as it essentially forced a counter seed of your own against souta or just fight at a much bigger disadvantage, which while i may take that challenge at times probably shouldn't be the standard, over the new effect can be argued ig but automatic tailwind is scary business, not only on souta either, so also welcomed. i am a little ??? on some of the (frozen) dimensional changes but rather see it in action than complain about them now, as it's not too egrious chandelure not being legitimate for that level is an odd thing to say about a stone evolution, but ig i can see the reasoning otherwise, i am not entirely sure how drifblim getting a burn from the seed is relevant last i checked normal mode drifblim was aftermath.... but once again not the end of the world. Crawli on swamp should be interesting, swamp is a field that doesn't usually get much spotlight so i am all for it really, even if I question how well the general audience will like it, swamp is a bit hit or miss in the likability of it. okay well that was less of the good and more a commentary on the changes, but mostly positive now to my beef: I really am not a fan of some of the charaterization that has cropped up lately. from zumi's post not the only ones but some of these feel like wanting a challenge is an unaccepted playstyle now, now granted i assume zumi is just done due to direct messages from more unsavory complainers, so i am just gonne give the benefit of the doubt here. now i will say this i disagree and am mildly insulted at the insinuation that all people that play (played) and liked intense mode are "birds of a feather" if you will, so no, i do not feel intense mode players as a whole have to apologize for anything, the people that were hounding jan, zumi and other devs have to apologize or realize they are not wanted, and i refuse to have intense players be put into the same box with them thank you very much. I feel sorry for jan and zumi having to deal with these people, but those have precious little to do with the whole of intense mode players I said it when the post about cutting intense mode was posted and i will say it now, making Intense mode a scapegoat for the bad behaviour of certain individuals helps no one at all. I have noticed a trend that feels like people that liked having more of a challenge being pushed away from the community whether they were elitist or not. and while with the former, they need to get their head on straight, the latter are as valid as players of this game as anyone else. And liking the challenge and liking the story is not mutually exclusive as some people might imply. that would be all, thank you.20 points

i think this justifiable enough as far as im concerned, regardless of my personal feelings. personal views purely for novelty: i dont know about anyone else, but the main reason seeing the mode go saddens me, is because of: 1) rejuv has somehow managed to create the best gameplay elements out of every other fangame i've seen. harder modes tend to showcase, and create the need to use more of those gameplay elements in order to succeed, which is why i find them interesting. i know the game is veering towards being story driven, but lets be honest, replaying the game more than 2 times (good and bad ending) has value only because of the gameplay alone. and rejuv was liek the one fangame that i was seing myself doing a lot of runs of long-term, past its completion. 2) the difficulty hitting that exact spot that fits with me personally (hard enough to push me to think, but not to the point where it reduces the fun) 3) azery doing a superb job with making intense mode battles interesting. (3) gets plus sad points because the mode going away feels like wasting his talent. we had already discussed on some ways to tone things down a little because when we went back to look at it, some v13 battles (and ryland) felt, pure mathematically, a little more overtuned than desired. all things considered this sounds like the more practical decision. i'll keep my challenge runs hiatus'd for that possibility and continue only my main file, and any new runs i start. i'm funnily curious to see how normal mode is for the first time.20 points

Wigglytuff Crest- Doubles the holder's attack stat, but the holder cannot faint a target unless the target has directly damaged the holder. After all, why faint a potential Friend? Meowstic Crest- If held by Male Meowstic, Prankster moves receive +2 priority instead of +1, and work on Dark Types. If held by a Female Meowstic, uses holder's speed stat in Special Attack damage calculations. Lycanroc Crest- If held by Midnight, the holder becomes part dark type and their normal type moves become dark type moves. If held by Midday, the holder becomes part ground type, with the same bonuses. If held by Dusk, the holder becomes part fire type, with the same bonuses. Bellossom Crest- The holder's dancing moves activate twice. Alcremie Crest- Based on the holder's type of Sweet, provides a different boost. Strawberry Sweet: The holder's draining moves deal more damage and absorb more health. Berry Sweet: When the holder hits a target or is struck by a target, the target's attacking stat is decreased. Love Sweet: The holder's clerical moves (Aromatherapy, etc) have increased priority and bypass Taunt/Torment. Star Sweet: Upon entry, all of the holder's stats are raised by 1. Clover Sweet: The holder's atk stat is always equal to their spatk stat, including boosts etc. Flower Sweet: Holder's speed and special attack are 1.5x in Sun. Ribbon Sweet: Holder has an innate +2 to their crit ratio. Dubwool Crest- Nullifies the drawback of Fluffy. The move "Body Press" becomes normal type when used by this pokemon. Morpeko Crest- Holder's stats vary wildly when in different Hunger form, with the usual form being bulky and hangry being offensive. Quagsire Crest- The holder becomes golden in appearance, reflecting it's godly nature. Gains complete immunity to grass type moves. It's defensive stats are increased when in rain. Rapidash Crest- If held by Kantonian Rapidash, increases the damage of "charging" moves, such as Wild Charge, Flare Blitz, etc. If held by Galarian Rapdiash, increases the user's atk when using the move Calm Mind and increases the chances of additional effects occurring (like Serene Grace)19 points

I voted 'Yes', because potentially getting locked out of playing the game for a potentially absurd amount of time with no counterplay other than knowing one of a specific handful of Fire Moves- many of whom aren't even that viable in most other situations- is not engaging gameplay, it's getting completely dicked over by RNG. Frostbite at least allows you to keep going, albeit with potentially reduced firepower and a timer on your head- any damage dealt is a lot better than 0, after all.18 points

i have a few. i cannot guarantee they'll be any good, though. Samurott: uses any Slashing or Sword move in it's first moveslot when it's sent out, a la the Castform Crest. otherwise what could also work is Gale Wings, but with Slashing/Sword moves. Spinda: While it is on the field, all Pokemon who are confused have their speed cut in half. it should maybe do a bit more than that. Leavanny: Freshly fallen leaves are hard to burn, and Leavanny Drapes itself in leaves every day. so, Fire Attacks deal no damage to Leavanny, and instead give +1 Special Defense Gigalith: The Pokedex Entry states that Gigalith Shoot lasers, but Gigalith are infamously poor at actually doing that. so, why not make the Crest swap Gigalith's attack and Special Attack? Vespiquen: Queenly Majesty and +1 Priority on the "Order" moves. basically, Vespiquen invoking her title and moving before all y'all. Throh: Whenever it uses a contact move, the enemy is put under a "Bind" effect, meaning preventing the enemy from switching out for 2-5 turns, and Residual damage similar to Bind. Sawk: All Contact Moves from Sawk Automatically remove enemy Screens, like Brick Break. Primape: Permanent Rage. every time it's hit by an attack, it's attack raises 1 stage. Chesnaught: Protect and Spikey Shield effect allies in Double battles, but only on the first usage. Greninja: has a 10% Flinch Chance on an attack and Water Shuriken hits Five times, but both of these effects can only be used on the first turn Greninja is sent out. (This one is probably the most underwhelming, but it's the only effect i could think of that fit the "Ninja Surprise Attack" Fluff.) Delphox: Copies the effects of the first Status Move the enemy uses (If the enemy pokemon uses Substitute, Delphox uses Substitute. if the enemy uses Thunder Wave, Delphox uses Thunder wave on the opponent. this is like some kind of "Spellthief" effect.) Hitmonchan: Punching Moves heal half the damage they deal (This attempts to make Hitmonchan an Endurance Boxer.) Hitmontop: Give it Dancer (Hitmontop is based off of Capoeira)17 points

Hey so I have made a big mod that included adding a ton of crests into the game, I'll just copypaste the list of the ones I have made already. Note that a lot of these are very OP because they are used by the enemy trainers in my mod, and it's meant to be very difficult. Beautifly Crest - Multiplies Sp. Attack by 1.1. Gives you the effects of Gale Wings and Technician. Dustox Crest - Multiplies Sp. Defense by 1.3. Sp. Attack now scales off of Sp. Defense. Poison type attacks used by Dustox are now super effective against Steel types. Drampa Crest - Makes Drampa faster the lower their health is. Maxes out at 3x speed when 33% health or below. Delibird Crest - Makes Present 200 BP, and gives Delibird Refrigerate. Mightyena Crest - Raises Mightyena's speed and accuracy by 1 stage upon KOing an opponent. Dewgong Crest - Gives Dewgong the effect of 2 Stockpiles permanently. Kecleon Crest - Adaptabilty. Chimecho Crest - Chimecho now boosts allies attacks by 30%, their accuracy by 20%, makes them take 30% less damage, and heals their status effects at the end of each turn. Seaking Crest - Swift Swim now doubles attack instead of speed. Mamoswine Crest - Makes Angie's Battle music play and increases the power of Ice type moves by 20%. Wigglytuff Crest - Gives the effect of Fluffy Flareon Crest - Automatically Burns Flareon and increases its speed by 20% Samurott Crest - Increases the power of slash/cut moves by 50%. Emboar Crest - Heals Emboar for 25% HP and Increases Speed by 1 stage upon KOing an opponent. Jolteon Crest - Jolteon does more damage the faster it is than the opponent. Maxes out at 1.5x damage when you are 1.5x faster than the opponent. Vaporeon Crest - Vaporeon automatically activates Aqua Ring, and heals more from it. Heals for 1/12th instead of 1/16th. Espeon Crest - Espeon can hit dark types supereffectively with psychic attacks. Purugly Crest - Nullifies damage from Fighting moves and boosts Attack when hit by one. Tropius Crest - Tropius eats its own fruit at the end of each turn, granting various boosts. Costs 1/8th HP each turn to eat a fruit. Turn 1, +2 attack and sp. attack. Turn 2, summons sun. Turn 3, summons tailwind, Turn 4, heals for 50% HP. Throh Crest - Gives Throh priority on its first move Froslass Crest - Gives the effects of Prankster and Technician15 points

Hey guys! Just wanted to let everyone know that the apps are now closed and we now have new team members! (I'll let them introduce themselves at a later time). I want to thank everyone for applying and showing their eagerness to help me out on this overly ambitious project. We received a ton of applications and although we obviously couldn't accept everyone, I still want to restate my gratitude. Also like... Y'all are so talented?? There were so many great apps and because of that this was a very difficult process . I know where to look if I'm ever in the need for help in the future! - Jan14 points

Unfortunately this isn't really feasible on our end. Logistically speaking it's a much bigger hassle to deal with 100 people reporting the same common bugs over and over again, which is why internal & alpha testing take place before public release so we can catch the most common ones early by only a handful of people, and won't have to worry about having these same common issues in public release, making it possible to sift through more different uncommon bugs people find in the public release faster. That way we can keep things easier for us to manage as well! New story is meant in the sense of that a new chapter of the game is being added, so the story continues from where it ended in V12. There are also a ton of revisions coming with V13 to older content in order to improve story flow and/or fleshing/balancing things out better where the game was lackluster at first -- partially based on feedback we've received over the course of time, but also simply because we ourselves realized that some stuff needed improvement. And trust me guys, we're aware of how excited you all are for the release of V13. Hell, we all on the dev team are super stoked for people to finally play the game again after two years! But we really do need to get through the last few layers of testing to make sure the game doesn't break at every turn or at crucial moments, so bear with us a little longer please!14 points

hhhhhhhhookay so I think I need to clarify something and apologize here before more people think I'm blaming the WHOLE audience that's saying they like the challenge Rejuv offers for what we have to put up with; please understand that this is not the case and the comment was not aimed at everyone in that group. I thought it was pretty obvious that the pointed comment of "MUH CHALLENGE" (and pretty much everything else at the start of the post) is directed at the ones who do harass the devs over any changes we make—even if it's a vocal minority who make those comments, we still end up seeing those messages often and it's pretty demotivating if you have to be on the receiving end of those on a frequent basis as often negative comments usually stick out more than the positive comments. Regardless, the comment is not aimed at everyone who says they enjoy the challenge of the game, but it ended up surprising me that more people took offense to it than expected. I am not trying to lump in the intense crew by association if that's what people were getting from it, and we are not trying to alienate everyone who does like a challenge as we're trying to keep options open for that crew through passwords and letting people increase difficulty for themselves that way. But yeah, I can see how it might've come off as a bit too aggressive and how it unintentionally hurt more people than the intended receivers, so I'm sorry if it came across as hurtful in that sense. Apologies y'all12 points

Stantler will keep its crest. Same with Samurott and any other Pokemon that gets a new form. It's a different way to play existing Pokemon so there's no need to remove any of them. So like, I spoke about this with a few of my dev members and we're actually considering it. No idea if we will though. I was really hoping they'd learn a new move or something to allow them to evolve, but they dont. The answer for right now is no clue I haven thought that far ahead yet. Hisuian Samurott is the worst regional form Sir that's a man in a suit. No, it takes place between v13 and v14's story. It takes place during the last month of december when they wait for the final battle to happen. You can only do these when you finish v13 story so yes. It is not a separate game. I just said it's like WLL in terms of narrative. Think of it as one big help quest. Oh, I didn't see it! I'll take a look soon!12 points

Hi friends, wanted to chip in on the discussion about boss bars and explain that while yes, for more experienced players they feel like less of a roadblock and more like "a slightly bigger hurdle than usual", for new players they can straight up be run killers. I've seen several people grow frustrated and quit the game because they couldn't get past certain fights, and without giving too much away about survey results (as I want to cover some more stuff about balancing in a later post) we've seen the numbers that people struggle more often on fights with boss hp bars than not, so please also understand as of why we've come to this initial conclusion. If passwords are being added, you'll likely can micromanage the difficulty yourself and make things harder again if you want. Things are still subject to change, like Jan said! But we're trying to look at things from the perspective of less experienced/new players too, and make the experience more smooth overall so people don't have to get walled at every turn.11 points

A fair criticism. I should reiterate that all these plans are long term goals and may or not be acted upon depending on feedback from the community. So if a majority of the community feels as though boss battles should stay-- Then that outcome is considered. Currently they are pretty restrictive, and if a player chooses to want to cheese a fight that is too hard for them then they should have the right to do so. I feel as though the freedom to cater to your own playstyle is just as important. A slippery slope, though. Regardless, we're as previously stated we are -constantly- looking at feedback so if there are things people are not happy with, this is the time to speak up, as you have.11 points

Sincerely appreciate all the kind comments!! I tried out a couple of new things while working on the backgrounds and I personally am pretty proud of the result, so I'm glad that people like them! Like Jan said, I don't know how many more custom bgs will be introduced for V13, but if I have spare time, I'll probably tackle another background that can be recolored for multiple purposes (even though with caves and forests out of the way i'm starting to run out of things dhjfdkd). Otherwise it's gonna be field effects or custom bgs for important fights! Who knows!!!11 points

...And closed! That's all I'm taking for now! This goes without saying, but there's no way we can implement every single crest idea-- Heck, I don't think we'd implement most. There were HUNDREDS. I wouldn't be surprised if there were thousands. Next time remind me to post a limit, haha. That being said, please also note that these suggestions, if picked, are not guaranteed to be in V13. As mentioned before, there are just... so many lol. It takes time to implement crests, so... Yeah. We'll keep these suggestions for future versions as well. If you missed your shot, I might accept suggestions at a later time as well. Thanks again, guys. :]10 points
